So what makes a dreary, drizzly June afternoon a little better? Just what you see above — a steaming hot mug of Earl Grey tea at that estimable coffee emporium, Beanz Espresso Bar in Charlottetown, and a piece of the best key lime pie in the Maritimes.
Beanz is a fabulous spot, full of Islanders from all walks of life, of all ages and stages. Local artists on the walls, enthusiastic conversation everywhere, highly entertaining staff, and oh yes, good food.
I think they should have a special flag they could fly out front whenever their magical key lime pie emerges from the kitchen, just to alert the masses. And by masses I mean me.
This pie only shows up every couple of months, and is usually gone in a heartbeat, and for good reason. It’s like a great novel — you slow down because you just don’t want it to end.
